The Indian cricket team is going through a bad phase. Particularly batting is on the slide. Moreover the bench strength is not promising. Promising players like C.Pujara, Badrinath, Rohit Sharma have not been tested or allowed to get training with the team.
I find it will take a year or two to come to terms.

Nothing has happend to Indian Cricket Team. In sports every body goes through bad times and good times. Unfortunately some of the Indian players are going through bad time and as such they are completely out of form. This hs resulted in poor
performance of Indian Team. However, they are recovering fast and will come back as a strong team as before shortly.

The Indian cricket team is not doing badly at all. India is ranked 4th by the ICC, and is only 20 points behind number 3, Pakistan. India has played quite well in the ongoing series in South Africa, and has done quite well overall in the series. In the current Test match, South Africa was held to a pitiful 28-3 start (roughly) but then India kind of let go and allowed South Africa to become 268-8 (again, roughly). In ODI cricket, based on the ICC rankings, India has dropped to number 6, behind Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. Sourav Ganguly, the former captain who was removed from the team for a period, has returned in the South Africa series and has played extremely well compared to his ply before his removal from the captaincy position and the team. The days of Kapil Dev and Sunil Gavaskar are sadly gone, but relatively new stars, including Irfan Pathan and Mahendra Singh Dhoni are playing very well.
I hope this answers your question, and happy holidays!
