I am a 12 year old boy. I stayed in CA for my whole life. I came to vietnam to study on Feb. 19, 2005. My dad is planning for me to stay here and study until Xmas 2007. So I have studied here for almost 2 years.

Next Xmas I might go back to Usa to start 7th grade. What are some requirements that I need in order to participate and pass 7th grade? I have learned alot more than other 6th graders in usa have learned. I heard that they start physics and chemistry in 10th grade. I have already done alot of phy; chem; algebra; geometry,....... With my knowledge now, I am thinking of passing grades early. The only things that are stopping me now are little things that I missed because VN learning system is diffrent.Plus I'm homeschooled.

This pic might help:

it really depends on what state you are planning to move to i would call an old friend or get your father to go to the school you are most likley to attend and get information you sound like a very inteligent student depending on what your job wants to be when you "grow up" like if you want to be a doctor or a mechanic of some sorts than i would stay in vietnam

If you come back to school here in the USA you will be required to take tests in order to be placed in a grade. There are several different tests you can take, and the one you're required to do will vary based on school district, and you will need to contact the school you will be attending to make an appointment to take the test.

This will give you a grade level - if it's way above your age, and you don't want to go many schools will work with you. If you come out at a younger grade level they typically won't let you move up grades to your same age peers, so you might want to study those "little things" you say you're missing.

There are also other options for completing your education, like online classes, that you might want to look into. In some areas you can complete more of high school online, and some middle school classes, too.

Good luck to you!

Your pics did not show up - sadly

When you return here (US) the school administration may just put you into the grade "of their choice." In Kentucky we could not find tests to take for grade proficiency, so my son was made a 10th grader instead of a 9th, and it was a wise choice.

Depends on the school district. You will be ahead of the other children, regardless of the classes you take, since you have had "life experience" that few get. Well done! It will be difficult to get back into the swing of US life so expect some hassles.

I think if you will study 7th grade at CA, you will have to study hard while your here so you can pass, and then you can go back to U.S. I am just in 4th grade for now so I can't answer your question in the chemistry and what you have other mention there...
