get a new laptop, this laptop you have is not much upgradable, because its mainboard is probably old and can't seupport much ram.

The laptop should "cope" fine with broadband without any upgrade, although video (you-tube and google videos beta) may appear choppy.
If you're looking to upgrade anyway:
You'll find that a lot of the slowness in laptops is attributed to being disk-bound for basic word-processing and internet browsing (that 10GB drive is very slow), you can buy a replacement HDD for about £40, but will need a desktop PC and a 44 to 40 pin IDE adaptor, and know how to copy the OS over. Bear in mind that some broadband video may be a bit choppy because the graphics chip in older laptops is a bit pathetic.
I don't know which o/s you are using, 128mb RAM is fine for win98, ok for w2k and not good at all for XP. You'll need to have a look at the manual to see how many slots and what type of memory but my guess is that its not going to be very cost effective to upgrade the RAM at all. Upgrading the hard drive is better because the time waiting for swap will be much longer than the improvement felt from additional memory.
Before you consider multiple upgrades it may well be worthwhile saving to buy another one. Thats the thing with laptops - they're not very upgradable.

Sounds like your laptop is getting on a bit now. The new ones now come with 1024mb of ram and 2ghz dual core chips, 60-120gb drive. With this is mind the best upgrade for your machine would be memory. This will depend if the machine can take more RAM, I am doubtful if it will.

I think that the best thing for you to do is to get a new laptop--depending on how new your current one is. I got a nice compaq for 600.00 (on sale) and it is awesome. It is always really fast. (then again, all I use it for is microsoft office and the internet, and some music).
Look around for sales.

your broadband connection preformance may improve, albeit slightly, if you add more ram.
