there's no "maximum suitable" firewall obtainable. I desire zonealarm with the aid of fact you could actually create exceptions in accordance with standards collectively with trip spot tackle, port type, utility, etc. The domicile windows firewall is barebones at maximum suitable, and has a terrible interface in my view. on the tip of the day, all firewalls are an analogous - they block ports. Its the added useful properties/ease of use that count. If zone alarm replaced into leaving your laptop uncovered whilst updating, this is beneficial to enable domicile windows firewall before beginning the replace technique to be secure.

From the Start menu, click on Search. Search for "Firewall".... you will be able to see the Name, In Folder, Type, Size and Date Modified. I'm actually working on the same problems right now. I upgraded to IE7, and have Verizon Broadband with MSN Premium. What a pain this switch has been! Don't do it!

Well, did you install any other firewall, like Zone Alarm etc?
A Firewall can also come with Security Suite for example Norton Internet Security which comes with antivirus, firewall etc.
A router also has a firewall.

What Security programs have you installed in that pc? they might have come with a firewall.
