I love her! My mum & sister & I got to see her in concert, which was a little weird. You think from hearing her sing that she's going to be, well, pretty outspoken. But when she's not singing, she's very, very shy, things like "Um, well, I wrote this song a while ago and I hope you like it." I'd also rather expected to hear her say something political from the stage, given the content of some of her songs, but all she said was "Be sure to vote, there's a table up front where you can register to vote if you aren't registered." The venue was awful, it was down in Austin, they not only oversold tickets but had given a bunch to radio stations to give away, so they took out the chairs and we were packed in like sardines, and the strange couple in front of us wouldn't stop blowing smoke in our faces, but once she started singing it was fine.
I'd have to say it's a draw between several for me - "Fast Car," "Wedding Song," and "Born to Fight" are those that she's recorded. In concert, she did a version of "House of the Rising Sun" that was just incredible, I really truly wish she would record it, or if anyone knows an album she has recorded it on I would love to hear it.
The thing I like best about her music is you can hear the different things incorporated in it - here's a brazilian rhythm, there's an african chant style backup, there your general american folk guitar - you can really tell she just loves music and puts it all together beautifully.
