I´m interested in being a better consultant. And good consultants are really good at the art of asking good, precise, provocative questions.

If you self-educate by reading books across a broad spectrum of topics, you'll not only be well read but the vocabulary begins to stick and you will begin to ask better questions.

Books and authors I'd recommend:

- Larry McMurtry: "Terms of Endearment" and "Lonesome Dove" are among his best work

- Anne Tyler: " Dinner at the Homesick Restaurant" and "Digging to America"

- John Irving: "Cider House Rules" Don't cheat and see the movie, although that's very good, too!

- Joseph Heller: "Slaughterhouse Five" and "Catch-22"

- Elmore Leonard and T.Jefferson Parker if you like mysteries. Check out the difference in style

- Hemingway

- Saul Bellow

- Graham Greene

- John Updike

Good luck!

That is only about common sense.....no one book will teach you to be smart at the hour of asking questions.
That is something related to each of us..

Have a happy 2007
