Because it can be a new start. i realise what everyone else has said in answer to this but for some people you really need an excuse to start over. My friend has had a shite year and he wouldn't really have the strength to start over without an excuse like new year. i think that everyone needs a push every now and then and why not make it sometime you'll be able to look back on and remember when it actually happened? (or at least remember the hangover that is the whole xmas period :D)

They do realise, but there is a striking reason for the excitement.

I'mnt sure of this, but I think in this way.. May be due to the fresh period that blossoms, plans can be made newer and mind can be made refreshed more in a newer way and to make pledges which might be an excuse for their old, lazy, left-over actions and plans.

Thinking in this manner might give better mentality to act upon, I think.

They get a new beginning, a fresh start and a fresh outlook on life. People like the idea of having a clean slate.

And they have another Birthday and christmas to look foward to! Prezzys!

NO they don't realize it, it's always a "new year" a "new person"..."things are gonna be different this year" News flash people, you don't have to wait till the beginning of the year to change things you've been wanting to change since the 1st time you made the resolution

depends on your attitude ofcourse.
Please try to stay posititive !!
(And life is tough; that doesn't change, the only person able to make changes (if you want them) is YOU

Start with small changes (and goals); eat healthier, get more exercise, try different things/hobbies/activities, loose the boy/girl friend, get a different job, etc. etc.

If you are unhappy; make a change !!

Create your own happiness, the future is yours !!

Lots of succes and health in 2007

People are always excited at the opportunity to present NEW New year resolutions which they will never fulfil....e.g lose that spare tyre... be more tolerant.... learn new skills...get a hot chick or hunk..
