yea good answer for your own persoanl space, such as myspace as well they do sites for free. however if you have i high spec computer and a good amount of upload band width on your broadband line (not recomended but it can be done, your end users may have to wait for the dats from your server. but if you see the page on my website it will show you haw to get started on hosting your own website from home from your own computer: http://www.garylsmith1973.homeip.net/index_files/Software.htm
the site and page are not yet finished however the instructions are clear and easy to follow (or so a friend told me who knows almost nothing about computers).

you need a domain name this can be static or dynamic. you can use either with the dyndns updater software and getting your domain name is easy as well from www.dyndns.com once you have your domain name you need web design software and the server side software. the netserversuuite reffered to on my page is free to downlaod and use).
you just set the netserver to point to localhost when setting up, and dyndns does the rest.
if you need more than one domain name to serve different data this is done by modifying the httpd.conf file in the apache conf folder. emailme from my page if you need further instructions.
if you then find my info helpful please make a small donation via my website.

► Just use NVU editor (www.nvu.com), it's free and wont tie you down to one method of editing. NVU pages can be transferrable to frontpage or dreamweaver html editor
SEE http://www.interkeys.com/htmleditor for more info on Premium HTML Editors (WYSIWYG)

► For free hosting, try google pages pages.google.com or yahoo geocities ,
its sort of free hosting, but you are limited to a subdomain on googlepages & geo has ads on your website - otherwise I would use http://www.interkeys.com/tophosts to get one for a few bucks a month with 500 GIG bandwidth and the rich with features

its up to you how developed a site you want and if you want to use your own domain name

Try google page creator :
http://pages.google.com/
Although it just creates a home page for you. To get a dynamic web content site you need to use JSP or ASP or PHP etc.
