I agree that our society pays way too much attention to outside appearances. But as for plastic surgery, I think if you are doing it for you and no one else and you don't get carried away, like having more than 1 or 2 procedures, it's ok. I have been considering a breast reduction and internal lift for about a year now. But as I said, this is for me and no one else, and I'm hoping if I do it that it will correct the upper back problems I am having. (I'm a 44 DD and almost 7 pounds of my body weight is in my chest...ouch!) but as far as people who are having it done just for the sake of doing it to be "prettier" and getting carried away with it.....have you seen those shows on E! and TLC plastic surgery nightmaresa and such...most of those women were beautful to begin with. I think when the beauty industry shows us models that are toothlicks and look like drug addicts, and say THIS is what BEAUTY is, it's no wonder most women have a complex in this country! It's hard to live up to a size 0. I never have been and NEVER will be smaller than a size 10, or weigh less than 160 pounds. That is just my body and I'm fine with that. When I left for basic training for the Navy i weighed 160 pounds and was a size 12 - 14. When I got out of basic training I weighed 160 # and was a size 8 - 10. So if the freaking military counldn't make me lose weigh nothing on earth is going to! lol
But I digress, and i hope I've given you the answers you seek.

I would get plastic surgery if it were necessary. I think that if you are happy with yourself, or can change something about yourself, then plastic surgery isn't always the best choice. I would get breast implants or someting after I have kids, or fix some deformity; from birth or an accident of some sort. I don't think I'd go get botox once a month, or get my ears pinned or get a nose job. Imperfections are what make each of us unique and beautiful. Getting plastic surgery to look more like another person, or to look more beautiful is pretty vain, but if it makes you happy then do it.

Yes and no. I do think society pays too much attention to outside appearances, however if people are having the plastic surgery because THEY want to, not to please society I have no problem with it. Self esteem is very important, and while the media's idea of beauty may encourage people to take the plunge and get plastic surgery, its still a personal choice. You need to feel good about yourself and if surgery is what it takes, go for it. Just don't do it because of what society tells you is beautiful.

I would never have it but if someone is so insecure with the way they look and really want to change then they should. It will make them more confident and they would like the attention. I myself think that it is better to just have a haircut or try out different make up inorder to cheer yourself up. Think whether or not in the long run you'll be happy.

Everyone is beautiful inside and out, some people can't accept that. Some people think beauty depends on if you're stick skinny or not. I'm not and many other people aren't, and also a good percentage of them want to make it better by changing their appearance and become someone they truly can't be.

i do think society pays too much attention to beauty....HOWEVER, the simple fact of the matter is that is how it has always been and always will be....
even if we arent going out there and getting surgery, we do things in our everyday lives to make ourselves more attractive or physically appealing to the world and/or the opposite sex.....whether it be styling our hair a certain way, wearing a particular item of clothing, WEARING MAKE UP...we do these things unintentionally, but they are altering our natural appearence to the public....if we didnt care about fashion or what society thinks is beautiful, we would all be walking around in paper sacks or dressing like the amish (no offense to the amish)....
yes, god made us the way we are and we should be happy with it.....but the truth is, there are people out there who arent completely happy with the way they are, and if they are willing to pay for a little help in making them feel happy with who they are, who are we to say its wrong for them to do?!?!?!? they are doing it to and for themselves.....after all, how can you every truly love someone if you cant love youself!?!?!?!

If people are going for nip and tuck for vanity reasons, then I think it's absolutely wrong. Even Extreme Makeover participants aren't vain people. Most of them are mere simple folk with major defects on their faces and they badly needed a facial reconstruction to look 'normal' so that they can look people in the eye rather than live a life of perpetual zero-ego. But of course, for show rating purposes, Extreme Makeover brings the hype up another level and make its participants look 'gorgeous'.

Plastic Surgery for will not work, I don't believe in artificial beauty, the society pays too much to beauty. Sooner or later people will look like a robot, can't even give a real smile, afraid their surgery will affect their look.

Plastic surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her breast reduction, tummy tuck and facelift surgery in India by the company called Forerunners Healthcare .The Price for the surgery she paid in India was very less. She paid 30% of the cost she was quoted in America.
Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India. They arrange cosmetic and plastic surgery for foreigners in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low price, as the breast reduction, tummy tuck, facelift and other cosmetic surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

Hope this helps.
