------------
Buy an electric car! Practical electric cars are arriving now. We can't wait for the big car companies to build them - they don't want to do it. But there are many small entrepreneurs doing it.
*
Why doesn't anybody know these cars exist? Because small companies don't have the ad budgets to get their message out. But if you buy one, and spread the word, more people will buy them - the EVs will get better and better - and the rest will take care of itself. Below are just a few of many exciting electric vehicles we will be seeing.

Here's one company making an EV that charges in only 10 minutes:

Here's a Chinese import that gets 200 miles per charge:

Read this page to discover how you can buy an EV conversion for as little as $5000 that does freeway speeds, and saves hundreds in fuel costs every month:

Here's a very cute little car (this one only does 40mph) that only costs $10,000:

Don't believe the disinfo about electric cars polluting. Electric motors are several times more efficient than gas engines. Power plants burn fuel at much higher efficiency than your gas car does. And distributing electricity by wire is far, far more efficient than trucking fuel around the country.
*
The efficiency argument is easy to prove by looking at fuel prices. A typical electric car gets about 4 miles per kilowatt-hour. Using off-peak electricity prices, this translates into about a penny per mile in most places. What does gasoline cost? Closer to ten times that amount! The lower price of driving electric is mainly attributable to the higher energy efficiency of those vehicles.
*
All these efficiency improvements mean that the EV can travel further on less energy. That means much less pollution per mile, no matter what the power plants burn. Plus, a good percentage of our electricity is now made from non-polluting sources. And this percentage will only get better!

No electric car will be a force in sales until Gasoline gets really expensive.
Its just basic economics: it doesn't make sense to use or produce a more expensive item until it becomes cheaper then the current item(higher gas prices) or is better quality then the other items(sorry gasoline is way too advanced for this and electric cars are no where near close enough developed).
Most automakers are developing hybrids(prius sales actually fell) or diesels ( Mercedes, BMW, Audi and VW made a pack to develop better diesels).
The diesel option seems pretty good even for the environment since there is the new diesel cleanliness laws in the US and US uses like a quarter of the worlds energy anyways.

Have you ever heard of the hybrid vehicle. It is alive and doing well. This is the bridge towards the next generation. It is all about demand. The market will deliver what we want to buy. Unless the buying public buys only electric cars, then that is what they will produce. I believe Nitrogen fuel cells will be the next big push. That would be greater than electric as far as saving fossil fuel.

Its nearly impossible to make a car that runs on batteries considering it dosn't start the engine or motor, just has nearly enough power to turn on the lights and radio (ect.)
Unless they make a big enough battery for a car, like they do for those minature kids' cars, then yes the car would be slower, but more accurate on preventing car accidents and saving money instead of buying hundreds of dollars of gas.
