Depends on what you are reading about. If the Pern novels, then the Gold is the Queen, and the bronzes are the males they normally mate with, then the brown males, green females that mate but are not very bright and their eggs do not always hatch, then there are the blues which are also normally male. There are other stories that have fire lizards in them also, but this is the only one I know of where the fire lizards are charterers in the stories.
