What does the PSP-Console link in Madden '07 do?

I found it in the menu but I have no idea what it does, and it seems as though EA intentionally tries as hard as possible to make sure you don't know. The manual's like 5 pages for christ's sake.

That allows you to transfer an entire season in Franchise mode back and forth between your PSP and your PlayStation®2.
