On my way to work that morning a 53 mile drive I had my first hearing of a high-rise being hit by a plane. Within the next few hours I watched the reports in shock.
What I remember most over the next weeks , months was the
way we as humans in this wonderful country viewed each other and the world around us. There was a coming together that I witnessed for the first time in my 61 years. But I would say that first morning was spent trying to function and focus and finding it very difficult.

I went over to the McDonald's between classes and they had the TV on CNN. So it showed it soon after it happened ... thinking it was just an accident .... then it was live coverage with the second plane. I don't think anyone said a word the whole time. I just remember hearing my own heart beating. And thinking "what does this mean? what's happening?" I rushed over to the school where my sister was teaching first grade ... I told her what was going on ... I knew there was no way she would find out until much later ... and I had to share it with her. We stood in the teacher's lounge for a few minutes just hugging and crying ..

I was driving my 18 wheeler through Kansas. My dad was in his in North Carolina. I had stopped at a little fuel stop and when I went in all eyes were on a little TV and no one was at the counter to wait on all the patrons (and the place was full, but again, all were fixed on the TV)...About the time I realized what was happening, my cell phone rang. It was my dad. he asked where I was. I told him. He asked which way I was headed, and I told him west. He said that's good, don't go near the east coast! I was scared to death!! I just wanted to get home to my mother, but was halfway across the country! It was a sad day! The memory of that day, and the effects it has had on America are scars that may never heal.

I was at work, in Savannah, and we had a TV there when we heard the news we ran into to watch. At first we thought it was a fire then we just sat there in silence and total disbelief when we saw the 2nd plane fly in into the building everyone started crying and saying of no...to see people jumping out of windows was the worst thing I have ever seen in my life.
Pray God we will never see such a thing again.

Im an Aussie, the newscasts started thru the night, but I was getting up for work, and saw the news, I freaked, ran in and woke mum up and showed her. I remember thinking it was the beginning of a world war. It was very frightening. Our generation will never forget.

I had just pulled up in the driveway when my dad came out and told me what had happened. I immediately went inside and sat by the TV. I watched the second plane hit and saw both towers fall. That's something that I will never forget, and I think that its important we don't forget just how shocking and evil it was.

i was at home sleeping when i got a call from my brother telling me that my Grandmother had passed away in her sleep. my younger brother and i walked to our grandmas house and we all just held each other. we decided to turn on the TV until the rest of the family was notified when we saw the jets crash. my brother was terrified and thought that the US was under attack. we calmed him down and went on with our day. the terrorist attacks have yet affected me. the whole day to me reigns clear in my memory, but i never feel sad or hurt. even about my grandma which whom i loved. i live in Illinois and i will never forget that day. but it's different from the ways other "will never forget"
