Perhaps if you gave a list of the features that you are looking forward to in the phone along with your budget, I would be able to suggest a phone. But will give you some of the best models in my opinion.
The Motorola V3i - nice stylish phone.. if you are style conscious.
SE W700i - if you love music, this is the phone for you. And the camera is very good too.
Nokia N73 - If you are willing to spend more money, this is one feature packed phone.
SE K790i - for an awesome camera.

I'm sure it will work well if you don't abuse it like i do to my phones but here is what i can say from experience
If your gonna do Verizon then get a chocolate. I know they've been running commercials like crazy and i usually don't trust marketing either. But i got one and its just the best phone I've ever had. Its camera is good quality(if you hold it still). Ive gotten it to connect to my computer and now i can use any of music as a ringtone(with the $30 optional music package and free BitPim software). It might not be the best at anything but it does everything well.
But if you dont pick that heres a general guideline:
Nokia is awesome
Motorolla sucks
everything else is a gamble so look for revievs online

LG, very few technicians available to repair your mobile in case your mobile has any problem. Most probably imported from Korea, so it will costs you a lot more than usual. May I suggest Sony Ericsson mobiles? They're good, nice, stylish, multi-functions, affordable. Moreover, Sony Ericsson is an established brand.

time to teach the united statesa. human beings on Economics ok, enable use the iphone as an occasion iphone 3G S 16GB purely without att plan and NO settlement (that's no COMMITTMENT PRICING) = $599.ninety 9+tax iphone 3G S with att plan or and settlement (that's improve/2YR COMMITTMENT PRICING) = $199.ninety 9+tax on the spot carriers purchase those telephones from LG, RIM, Samsung, nokia, HTC, Motorolla at their pricing.. can we like it--hell no! by using offering a settlement, on the spot companies like att, verizon, sprint, altel, t-cellular can offset the fee of a clean telephone.. becuase--heavily--who could pay $500 for a clean telephone each and every 12-18 months?!?!? So, whilst little susie gets a LG Vu for $40 9.ninety 9 with 2 365 days settlement, we, as ATT, purely lost $2 hundred at once. yet, through settlement... we would have regained that $2 hundred back in 8 months...and the subsequent sixteen months is.. nicely... green love! LOL so i assume.. and the same is going with Verizon's chocolate, sprint's Pre, T-cellular G1, Altel.. umm nokia something, all of us make money this way... Now, investigate Wirefly... unfastened Eternity with settlement!!! omg we purely lost 349!!! omg!!! yet in 10-365 days... we've been on condition that a reimbursement and the better 365 days is ... say it!... green love!!! yet this is att's money, how does wirefly make $$$. nicely, att, verizon, sprint, altel, t-cellular supply wirefly a % of its revenues... and in the event that they over exceed excursion sale projections... they get an advantage! the two way... they make money.. we make money... same with appropriate purchase, Radio Shack, Wal-Mart, and so on... Bu purchase form our Coporate shops... we earn greater money that way! lfmao Economically---we get our a reimbursement for the telephone and churn is decreased whilst a settlement is in contact... No settlement ability a hundred% finished cost of the telephone.. the fee you may pay at LG's website, Motorolla's website, Nokia's website get the image
