I would like to know how i can search on the net for the previous owner of my house as i think there is a ghost in the house and i want to know if it has anything to do with the previous owners. The search would be 15-20 years ago.

You can find out the name of the previous owner from the sale paperwork. It is also a matter of public record in some places, just do a search for home sale records and locate the local newspaper. That will give you a jumping off point.
good luck, HTH

Do a title search at the local deed registry. Typically at city hall or the county courthouse. Not aware of any on-line resources but if your local registrar has a net presence it might be possible.

You can start with a property profile (which is free to the public from any local title company). The records may not go back that far (but you get a lot of information about the property). Once you have that information, you can do your own title research with the apn # and such.

Do a title search. All ownership records are available to the public. Probably at County Clerks office.

You can find your states website and look for the tax records of Real Estate. Most of this is kept in a Department of Assesment and Taxation. The other option is to contact a Real Estate Professional and ask them to look it up for you.
