i dont want to steel it i just want to take the audio from a dvd i want it on my ipod and the format of avi will not go on to my ipod

You are NOT a thief; you bought the product and you have the right to enjoy the different elements of it.
Me, I would run the thing while Soundforge was recording and the soundcard had the appropriate input selected.

There is a program called audiograbber, you can try that, its freeware on the inet search for it.
