Is this person really annoying? or are you just overly self concious to avoid this person to prevent damage to image. I'd honestly suggest to re-analyze the situation, does this persons annoyance out weigh his loyalty as a friend? If its something that annoys you, bring it up, talk about it. If you say hes your friend, help him better himself.

Afterall, an old friend is the best mirror.

If all else fails talk about it civil like and then quit being friends. Rather than delivering deliberate insult and unneccessarily hurt someones feelings.

Because the worst hurt one can get, is by someone close.

Karma comes back around.

This is just my opinion, I do not know this person or the situation entirely, use your wisdom.

ignore the person and dont get involved in anything he asks you to do and just say that you are not interested.

you can arrange a party for your friends and yourself and dont invite the person and when every one is gona talk about it when they are exited to come to the party and if he asks you why you havent invited him just say that
"I was going to invite you but there isnt any more spaces for more people and the amount of people that is going to come to the party is limited. I am so sorry but i cant do anything about it."
if he forgives you then try something else that would hurt him. like make excuses if he invites you to anything.

Gudluk! hope you will get him out of your hair.

well, its just being professional. if a friend is really that annoying just try to do it on a nice way by simply whispering to him that "excuse me but i think something is wrong with you" in that way i am sure he will feel so embarrassed not into the public but I'm sure in his own self.

Act as if you are not interested in whatever he does. Soon, he will have the same problem as you do. Then just find a topic to argue on and it is easy to break up.

Apathy. Just show that you're uninterested in him. Avoiding is always a good hint too. Sooner or later, he'll get the hint. Unless he's really stupid, then you can just hit him.
