What's the factor that gets your mind moving?

If I like the name of the questioner (your name is fine).
If the question does not pander to a fickle audience (like some of the ones on 'Religion and Spirituality').
Questions that are worthwhile, thought provoking, like the one I am answering now, or the one from 'Cheerfulwife' regarding her daughter's poem (see Books & Authors).
oh..one more criterion. Questions that do not need long answers. (sorry to break one of my own rules).

A lot of it depends on who is asking the question.
You get to know the AVATARS on here and after a while you can pretty well guage what kind of questions they will ask.
I like thought provoking questions or muliple choice ones!

I choose Question considered intelligent and answer it with garbage, so that if I'm wrong, I can always say I'm not serious...what you expect?
I choose Question considered Dumb and answer it intelligently. This way, if I am wrong, the asker wont notice anyway.

I only answer the ones such as yours, that I can relate to, through past experiences...whether they be funny, sad, merry and most of all...true...I can only speak for myself, noone else, so I hope by experiences in my life, I have gained enough wisdom to pass on and in doing so, assist someone in the process or make them laugh when needed...Hope you had a Merry Xmas as we all did here...(Thankx for the question as now, I have gained wisdom just in answering yours)!!

I answer the ones of my interest, and the ones that I think my answer will help the person who post the question.

I usually choose questions that intrigue me.....ones that I think I might have an interesting answer for, and there are a few askers that I try to answer all of their questions because I like their questions.
And of course there are times when I'll answer a question like this one to try and explain why I do things :)
