In the country India a lot of people support cricket and maybe few to support soccer. There is no international soccer team at all. That really proves that people don't support the game.

Why can't they?
Why are Americans crazy about baseball and American football when - as you say - "soccer is more than popular " from baseball and American football?
People should be able to be crazy about other sports. It would be a VERY boring world if everyone is only crazy about soccer.
Different stokes for different folks

More popular in which country? Countries that are 'crazy' about cricket generally do not support football as much as they do cricket.
Except for perhaps England.
Anyway, whats it to you? each to their own
P.S. to the poster below, india does have a football team. but its crap... similar to their cricket team.

Cricket is about all about life, it is both complex and simple. you have individual glory and the pleasure of being in a team working together. you have fast bowlers hunting in pairs, spinners weaving intricate charms, partnerships, glorious uncertainties, the passion it can evoke in nations, the unity it brings about, the tales of heroism, grandeur and sheer despair, from the elegant arrogance of a vivian richards or the histrionics or monty panesar. the ashes, and of course india vs pakistan which is war minus the guns, cover drives and bowling maidens including zeenat aman, nagma and who could forget neena gupta, over
who wouldnt want to watch azhars wristy flicks or a murderous gilchrist on rampage. the many slips between the cup and the lip, edge biting thrillers, corridors of uncertainty, flirting outside the offstump and umpires ranging from hairs to bowdens, sledgers and commentators and tracer bullet cliches, football or soccer whatever you call it, remains the beautiful game, but cricket is a celebration of life in all its moods and diversity.

It depends on choice and not on popularity. I like a game more than other not because of its popularity but because i like it..
thats it.
And one can be crazy about any sport which he/she likes, it doesn't have to do anything with popularity of the game.
like american football which is played only in USA and the americans are crazy about it.
