Our neighbour has one of these old beatles(It looks like HERBIE )It makes the same noise as a tractor so you always know when he's on the way. Anyway, all the ladies think its disgusting,but all the men think its cool.

It is all about an appreciation of the past so we can understand our present.
The old VW Bettle is a classic that has a significant history and has shaped the design of current cars like the Porche 911. They actually had the same designer (Porche & VW).
At the end of WW2, England was offered the full design and manufacturing rights of the VW Bettle as reparations from the war with Germany. They rejected it and therefore rejected the rights to one of the top selling cars in the world.
There are other cars that have an equally interesting history... Shelby Cobra GT500, Ferrari, Bugatti, Mini, Mercedes etc.
Isn't that a whole lot more interesting than a Daewoo or KIA straight out of a factory and into a showroom, only to be discarded in 5 years time?

That 60's beetle will probably still outlive the new crap disposables on wheels... Driving an old, but fully functional car with pride also says some positive things about the owner: unpretentious, practical, take good care of things and best of all: doesn't give a **** about what others think!

I love old cars!! They're so classy and remind me of the 1930's or something...
However, if it makes noise- out with it! If people find cars that look good but make noise for everyone to hear, I prefer they buy ugly cars that don't make a sound.

i have no problem with an old car provided it is kept clean.I can't stand it when some teenagers drive in dirty new cars to work,groceries and the last place to expect CHURCH on Sundays.
