Stay at one end of the train car. Only shoot when the locusts are not flying around him as they will protect him from gun fire. When he gets close to the barrier your hiding behind use blind fire and that should finish him off if you've hit him enough as he was getting closer to you.
Note: I've only played campign Co-op, never by myself. I suggest you play campaign Co-op. The strategy I listed works on Casual and Hardcore. Insane is more difficult.

Take him out at a distance with your sniper rifle or torque bow. When he gets close, use your rifle (I like to blind fire myself). Make sure he's not surrounded by pesky Kryll at the time. When he gets close, I just run to the lit barrier on the other side. It takes a minute, but it works. Always remember to stay close to the barrier.
