It will put pot dealers out of business overnight and generate millions annually in taxes, as well as creat jobs growing, packageing, transporting and selling it.

I makes too much sense to legalize weed.

It would keep too many cells open for real criminals.

It would take too many police off that aspect of the war on drugs, making them available for higher priority things.

It would generate too much money for the Govt to deal with.

It would stop street dealers instantly.

It would cut down on drinking and drunk drivers.

The snack cake industry would not be able to keep up with the demand for Twinkies....

Mrs Canary, although I don't smoke, I believe you're absolutely right. Regulation of the industry would cut down on pot being laced with other drugs, make it safer and more reliable, allow those who need it for medical reasons to access it without fear and the drug companies could make a profit as well if they found a more effective way of delivering it than smoke.

very interesting.
I believe that though there are around 7 million in jail for soft drugs, legalizing "medical marijuana" won't stop people selling it on the streets or "illegally".
Altnough that is an excellent point I think we should promote hemp products, & legalize it for medicinal purposes.
It wouldnt change the fact that people are giong to use and sell it for recreational purposes! Wow. My relative wants to use it for medicinal purposes for chronic pain but "can't" because it is illegal. What can we do to urge the gov't to make this change!

Not likely to happen soon. US government is dead set against it and influences other countries against it. In Canada, one of the big factors against legalization is a bad US reaction to the move.
Threats of tougher border controls and even punitive actions cool the heels of Canadian politicians.
