Politeness i would presume, but whenever a fit guy i like, talks to me, i assume maybe he likes me in some warped way, but deep down i know its wishful thinking.
I think it is a really kind decent gesture to ask someone how they are, because it shows not all human beings are selfish, you can get the " you alright"? spiel off people and they know they dont mean it, but just say it, as they walk past or whatever, but if someone genuinely stops me and asks " if im okay"?
there is a difference...
Well thats what i think anyway...if we are talking about men here, i love it when a man has good manners, going off the subject abit lol!! its the most attractive thing ever!! :)

It could be both. You are such a nice person it would be easy to fancy you. . As long as you respect other peoples reasons for doing or not doing something you want them to do then I would say they FANCY YOU.xxxxxxxxxx

it just means a person is caring enough to ask. it may could also mean a person cares for you as a friend. best way to find out is to ask

That depends on how close you are with the person who asked you that.
That would sometimes mean that they care for you,
or they have nothing else to ask you when your together and just out of the blue they ask you that and without even hearing your reply.and that sucks! :-)
