I'm happy to answer questions requiring experience or local knowledge, but all too often the question could be answered by just doing a seach.
For instance somebody has just asked if any place in the UK includes the term 'All Hallows' in it's name. I was able to tell them of a village in Kent I know about - but googling 'All Hallows' revealed not just this place name but lots of parish churches too....

Unfortunately, not all of us yet understand 'search engines' when you get thousands of results back. It is easier to 'talk' to people to get an answer you understand. A lot of it depends on how the question is asked and people can understand people better than machines can understand people.

coz
& this is only an opinion.
they're afraid of using a search engine.
goggle, and jeeves R just so scary! they keep a record of the search, don't they?
& U never know, the FBI/MI5 might come calling if they use a search-engine!

i think the real answer
is why bother looking, when u can ask 4 and b pointed in the right direction on Yahoo Answers!
& if it's a silly question i just give an equally silly answer!

It is often the young, and the newcomers to Yahoo
Q&A if you look at their profile you will understand. Some like their homework done for them, it may be easier than making the decision, what to take from all the info awailable from a Search engine. They learn in time, and it is fun helping and showing them how it is done. I am sure they are happy to get the help.

I agree. It is sometimes really weired... but I also think that efficient googleing also has to be learnt. After a time you get much better and you see in the results right away if they are good.. and some people dont seem to have this "feature"

It does seem that many of the people on here do not know how to search for information on the web, or they choose not to - but I enjoy doing the searches myself and then giving them the answers, so I don't mind - it makes being on here fun!
