Try either BookHostels or Bookings.com. You can find links to both of them here:-

Book Hostels tend to specialize in cheaper hotels and they have lots of more unusual and out of the way places.
Bookings.com on the other hand have a really good choice of hotels in all price ranges and often have lots of special offers. I booked 4 nights in Albufera, Portugal in a 4 star hotel for 2 for just 70 euros which I thought was really good value and it was a fantastic hotel.

You may find that it may be a lot cheaper to stay in a pencion or a hostle. Some can run as little as 10 dollars a day.

I have travelled with Expedia a few times and was surprised at just how cheap they offer a great number of hotels I would recommend them for sure :)

I dont know if it is your type of thing but when i go traveling i use http://www.bootsnall.com. It has loads of cheap flights and a HUGE worldwide database of Hotels and Hostels.

Try tripadvisor.com you will get the hotel description and rateings from other guests as well as a list of agents if you find the hotel u like try to book direct sometimes its cheaper
