what- the English are the only ones who pay taxes, are Scotland and Northern Ireland tax free havens subsidized by the English- you must be kidding. how much oil does England have- check out a map-the north sea oil and gas fields lie off the coast of Scotland- how much of this revenue goes to England, Northern Ireland has one of the strongest economies in Europe, it is leaps ahead of the English economy in terms of growth, admittedly it may not have the same depth just yet but that again may have something to do with the war that lasted for decades and saw the deaths of thousands- wasn't that something to do about the English being unwelcome in N.Ireland.
the only good thing to come out of England is the road to Scotland.

Huh...so - Northern Ireland and Scotland have the same privileges as Jersey and perhaps even Switzerland...sheesh - what on Earth am I doing in Norwich...Aberdeen (or even Portstewart) here I come!

But seriously - when the media has a pop at a group of people...gay/black/people well outside the M25/'unsexy' disabled - id est; epileptics/spastics (be they from Londonderry, Leeds or Livingston) who have had a serious amount of money thrown at them, the usual red-tops will always squeal the term 'taxpayers', almost like these dears reside in one city only - and are the 'sensible' ones (maybe London...where else?) - they seem to forget we ALL pay taxes, no matter where we come from.
Remember the screaming when the National Lottery arrived 12 years ago - and the players, who won nowt would always write letters in newspapers, telling us the people who were getting some of the money didn't deserve it - on account they were either gay, Asian Brits...or ex-cons who seriously was making efforts to remain 'ex', and appreciated the money as it was helping them learn trades.

I heard a recently that only around 110,000 Scottish citizens make a net contribution to the UK economy, (ie put more money in than comes out). That means there is a huge amount of money moving north from England to Scotland. No doubt it's worse in Northern Ireland. I don't mind really but the Scots still insist on hating us!!!

Gee, we're all so sorry in Northern Ireland that historically, the English pilfered and robbed our country of everything it was worth. I guess the obvious solution is to invent a time machine, go back in time, and hit Oliver Cromwell on the nose with a rolled up newspapar and shout "no!", every time he thinks of rampaging around Ireland slaughtering everything that moves.

But people will only complain that English taxpayers have to pay for the time machine...

From the Business Newspaper.

The analysis reveals that the taxpayer spends £6,623 per person in England but £886 more on every person in Wales... £1,473 more on every person in Scotland... and £2,275 more on every person in Northern Ireland.

England is the Financial & Economic engine of the UK.
