I have adopted a road, and have volunteered at Smart Reading Programs. Every little thing counts; to the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world.

I don't litter, encourage recycling, push it agressively at work and give as many thumbs up as possible.

i used to make a heap of sandwiches every weekend and then take them into town and give them to the homeless so they would at least have one decent meal that didn't come from the bin. unfortunately with 4 kids i no longer have time to do that : ( i recently had a big house cleanout and gave a lot of things to charity, and i recycle, try to save water, and smile more: one smile can save a life, trust me on that.

wow, I thought I was the only one to think this way, I always try to help hurt animals AND PEOPLE, feed someone who is homeless by taking them into a deli and buying them a sanwich.
Two summers ago I took a short cut across the Bay at dusk (I was trying to get in before dark), it was agaianst my better Judgement due to losing the tide, I herd a faint cry for help, I found a person clinging to a wave runner with a broken hip about to go into shock, from an accident (Bleeding), I tried to get him into my boat but, he was screaming in agony every time I went to lift him in, I grabbed the "HORN" and notified the Coast Guard who got there in 12 minutes, (felt like 12 hours holding this kids head above water), They finally spotted us in the Grass lands islands and put a backboard on the victim but could not get him in their boat, they asked if they could use mine, I said "SURE", so they slid the back board with him on my boat (it's a "Whaler" close to the water line), they asked If I would run him in with them escorting us to an ambulance, "LETS GO" I said, I nailed it all the way with the coast guard escorting me with lights and sirens to an ambulance, the coast guard thanked me, I thanked them, the person lived, the crew from the coast guard was so impressed with my determination to save this person, that they asked me to join the USCG aux. which I did. The person's mother called and thanked me for saving his life as did he, you're right, for 1 minute "I" was the difference in his world, I made sure that he did'nt go to another world , felt good, I'm proud to be on patrol with the USCG aux. now !
