TO RESET YOUR PC TO FACTORY SETTINGS
Before you try using the system recovery program I would suggest using system restore:
if software on you hard drive accidentally gets erased or damaged, first use Microsoft system restore to return the computer's settings to a selected restore point without affecting user programs or document files. "how ever"
when other methods of repairing your system software fail then you may want to use the system recovery program as a last resort to reinstall software.
WARNING SYSTEM RECOVERY WILL DELETE ANY DATA OR PROGRAM THAT YOU INSTALLED AFTER PURCHASE,
BE SURE TO BACK UP ANY DATA THAT YOU WANT TO KEEP ON A REMOVABLE DISC
1.Disconnect any devices, like printer, scanner, webcam,
Except the monitor, keyboard, mouse
1. click start on the task bar
2. choose all programs
3. choose PC tools
and then click system recovery
4. wait until the system recovery box appears asking do you really want to start PC system recovery,, click yes
follow on screen instructions.
5.complete the computer start-up and finish the registration process, then reconnect all devices.

if it has xp built in without disk then find system repair in accessories follow the instuctions and it will go back to straight out of the box. system repair will take it back to a certain point in time otherwise format disc when reloading change boot order in the bios so that your cd drive works

in case you like all your records, and all courses you put in, wiped out, reinstall residing house windows. (Boot from the residing house windows CD and set up residing house windows, telling it to format the force while it asks.) in case you do not have the residing house windows CD, all you're able to do is delete each and every thing you do no longer want left and get an commercial-potential disk eraser which will erase each and every of the unused area on the force.

I'd try going to system restore 1st in the
"programs, accessories, system tools then down to system restore".
See if that works first. Restore it to a day when you know it was working good.
Also, when you have a problem 'formatting' your drive isn't always the answer. Many people have files they don't want to loose and haven't backed them up on a CD. There are many other ways to solve a problem. Formatting and re-installing all your needed software is time consuming.

You will need to use the recovery disk that cam e with your computer...(it may be on a secondary hard drive if it is an HP or some BS like that)
WARNING!!!..if you decide to do this...back up all of your files...as you will lose them otherwise.
