I do this every night using the computer on my lap and laying in bed. When I lay down to sleep the base of my neck hurts .I have been doing this for quite sometime. My head bows forward when I do this. Now my neck feels weird at the base and somttimes when I lean forward and turn my head I feel something moving in the back at the base..Could I have damaged something in my neck badly or is it just a stift neck ?

I do the same thing and have the same problem. Its a stiff neck. I usually wake with a headache in the morning too. But you should do a lot of neck movements as not to stiffen up. ouch!!! I have been on my laptop for OMG 4 hours now. But I try to get up and move around as often as I think about it.

It definitely sounds like something is wrong. I recommend:
1. Stop leaning that way.
2. See a doctor or a chiropractor.

If anything sit up in bed, the best place to use your laptop is not in bed at a desk.
