I like AOL AntiVirusShield. Don't let the name AOL fool you. AntiVirusShield is made by Kaspersky which is one of top-rated anti-virus vendors in the world.

In recent tests, the most popular free anti-virus, AVG, was only able to detect about 82% of a very large sample of viruses. On the other hand, AntiVirusShield was able to detect better than 99% in the same test.

AntiVirusShield has excellent virus detection rates and is extremely light on using your computer resources. (6mb RAM)

And it updates 15 to 20 times a day with new virus definitions, 7 days a week.

Free to anyone, AOL member or not from:

For a really light and low resource firewall you can't beat the older Kerio 2.1.5 (5 MB RAM)

If you want a payed software then:
Best antivirus software overall.
According to the most recent reviews, Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 tops both Norton AntiVirus 2007 and McAfee VirusScan Plus 2007. Kaspersky is fast and light -- meaning it won't slow down your computer as much as the class leaders. Reviews say system drag is a particular problem with Norton and McAfee. Kaspersky passes virus-scanning tests at all major testing labs, and according to some critics, it is better at catching new threats. As with all antivirus software, users report some trouble with software conflicts, but overall, we found far fewer complaints for Kaspersky than for other antivirus programs.
It costs about $50.
But the price does not matter it is the protection the really matters. And don't try to crack or use a false serial for it because if u do that then their servers will detect it and shutdown your updates.

Are you looking for free anti virus?

I would suggest you the AVG anti virus software, they provide good service yet it is free. And i have used it for almost 1 year with no problem at all. They have about 3 updates or more per week. Plus they also have free anti-adware which you can download if you want.

You can download it at
http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/lng/us/doc/2/tpl/v5

This avg also has a paid edition which only has a few several more functions that are not essential in providing quality anti-virus.

However, if you want a paid version of anti-virus, i would suggest you get the Mcafee anti-virus. I would say they are ranked the top few anti-virus software every year by cnet.
Hope this help you.

Well ?, it depends on what you want, the anti virus you pay for will always be better then the free downloads, for me it's got to be Norton symantec http://www.symantec.com for others it's Mcafee anti-virus then there are the free version's of avast or avg it's really up to you what you choose, some of the free version's are good at detecting virus's but can't remove it and you end up buying proper anti virus software in the end.

I use F-Prot Anti-Virus.... It is smal light weight and works like a charm once configured correctly. It does require maybe 5 minutes of perferences to have it working how I like it. I have installed it on over 20 PCs and never had to touch it after the initial setup. It updated, scanned, and monitred files perfectly

Best virus solution *CURRENTLY* on the market Apple OS X/ Linux OS, each have their pluses and minuses.

If,however, you are burdened with the infection of Microsoft Windows, the AVG has very decent product here is a link to their main site.
