What is popularity?
The desire to be loved?
That can only come from within.
Humans are social creatures, we were designed that way.
But society is the culprit of "popularity" pursuits.
Everyone wants to be liked in some way or another, but what drives some people to seek mass popularity in their lives?
Fear?
If someone is "born with it" that simply means they were born outgoing creatures, thriving in and engaging in social behavior.
It does not make them a better, or greater human being.
On the contrary.
People who are satisfied and comfortable in their own skin do not need popularity contests to define who they are.
You have the power within you to be an outgoing social human being, if that is what you desire.
But to buy into popularism and clique mentality does not make you an outstanding human being, it just makes you a mainstream human being.
Most of the greatest human beings have been those who stood outside the popular mold.
They didn't think like most people, look like most people, or act like most people.
You can be whoever you want to be.
That is decided by you, noone else.
Be who you are.
We need difference and individuality.
We need those who do not think inside the popular box, but those who think outside of it, on the edge of something wonderful!

Americans "respect" money, and young Americans "respect" *flash*. Look at Paris Hilton, what talent does she possess? Is she intelligent? Has she contributed to the good of society? No, yet she is a 'celebrity.' More Americans can name Paris Hilton's love interest, than can name the founding fathers of the United States. For that matter, why is '50 Cent' popular? The man is an ex-crack dealer, who's been shot several times and incarcerated. Why is he glorified? Why do young kids "respect" him? Donald Trump, the man gets married every time it rains, yet Americans "respect" him; why? Cause he's got $$
Once you actually grow up (and some people never do), you begin to respect things of importance, and popularity is given to those that have enlightened you or made obvious civic contributions.
And to answer your question, yes, you can be whatever you want to be, but keep in mind, respect is earned. Do respectable things, and get respect in return. It's that simple.

Yes, I was popular in school and I am at work too. But I don't give them money and I don't think it's because of my looks either. I think that people are drawn to me because i know who i am and i don't change for anyone. No matter who i am around. An i smile, talk and laugh with everybody. And I treat everyone with respect. And I don't think of myself as superior.

No, sorry but no matter how much I wanted to be President of the United States or CEO of a large company or go to law school, that never was going to happen. Not everyone is born equal either in talent, intelligence, wealth, or political influence. And to get ahead it helps to have a large allotment of all four.

State of mind def helps. Charisma is great. Without this, people will not warm to you in a genuine manner...............you're not restricted and people cannot restrict you (unless you're in prison!). Achievement is the process of trying and trying again. The more times you fail at making that particular way work, the more likely you are to succeed.
