Yes it should be a national holiday! Because whether you like it or not, the fact remains that Christianity was the basis for achieving such a civilized and advanced Europe. Regardless of the fact that Europe tends to be secularly orientated in almost everything nowadays, the fact that Europe has a long and unique relation with Christianity, the latter being the basis of greatness of the former, cannot be disregarded. Therefore Christmas and all other Christian holidays should be national holidays!

In the UK we have the lowest number of Bank Holidays of any EU country.
This alone is a good reason for Christmas to be a national holiday.
No Muslim I work with (and that's a heck of a lot) has complained about being given a couple of days of paid leave to spend with their loved ones and take a break from the daily grind.
If YOU really want to work over Christmas why don't YOU do the 'decent thing' and give some hours to a local charity.

Did you see the shopping centers, banks, malls, grocery stores, and traffic last week? I work in an office, so it's one thing, but man, if I worked in customer service I would want the whole month off! It is insanity out there.
It's not about hating Christmas or Christians or anything else, it's about how hard it is just to go about life this time of year. Good grief.
So yes, it should be a holiday, because no one should have to be exposed to this, they should be able to stock up on whatever they need and hunker down for a week. Let the Christians cater to other Christians at Christmas. So, I guess what I am saying is that when a holiday causes this much turmoil, every one except the people who celebrate it should have the time off. We should not have to suffer so that others can celebrate.

Allow a man to belive as he wishes, if it bothers you, do not pay attention to it. Should there be any Hollidays that recognize the Winter Solstice, yes. If you want to make it a Jewish Holliday name it Hanakuh and do what you want. If you are Chinese you can name it Hickee ho Mai Pooh, and ride on trees down hills.
Look , Christmas is Sandy Claws, and you cant stop imagination and hope. So just look busy, allways have a towel, and find the fun.

Shut up!! You don't want to celebrate christmas don't. That's your choice. But this is a predominantly christian country, so we have christmas as a holiday, just like Saudi Arabia has a national holiday for Al-Eid, and Al-Haj. If you are so aginst christmas f. off to somewhere they don't celebrate it, ie. N.Africa, Israel, Egypt, Jordan, Iran, Syria, Yeman, Dubai, UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, etc. Get the picture. See what is open on their national holidays. Absolutly NOTHING!!

Yes, Christmas should be a holiday for those of us that do like it, yes some of the Muslim did work on Christmas day simply because they have already celebrated theirs, some Muslims celebrate ours and had the big party themselves yesterday, some people are just killjoys and want everything stopping just because they hate what they don't like, are you going to be the one to tell the little kiddies that they can't have Christmas anymore and ruin their innocence of it all for them, just remember its hard to mend broken hearts, especially children's.
