Hi Anjalee,

You can go to Spain on a three month tourist visa but you are not supposed to volunteer teach on it. However, there would be dozens of schools who would love to take you on as a volunteer. However, there is a rule in Spain that does not allow non-school personnel inside a classroom, even if you are the parent of an elementary student. It has something to do with the privacy of the other students. Anyway, the next step up is much more complicated as you will need to contact the Spanish consulate in your district months before you enter Spain. Then you will need an invitation from a school to prove your intentions. There are religious visas, retirement visas, student visas, and work visas. I know folks who have tried to get each type and each one is hard to get. In other words it costs about $500 and at lot of red tape. The BIG disclaimer here is that each consulate in the USA has different requirements for Spain.
I don’t know anything about these sites but they look good on the surface:

Here is the best link – if you don’t mind volunteer teaching at a Christian school in Spain or Italy. The school will walk you through the paperwork.
