No, an IQ test measures how much information you've retained over your lifetime. Genius is not the ability to memorize things.

I think a whole lot of importance has been placed on a test that has little application to real life. In the first place, all IQ tests, and in fact all tests, are culturally biased. As an example, I offer the exam I took for my nursing licensure. There was a question that most Mexican American students missed because they didn't know what bouillon cubes were. Seems a silly thing, but that kind of question would cost them points on an IQ test. In addition, I Q tests test only specific types of intelligence. As I child, I was determined to have an IQ above 140. But if you gave me a puzzle made of five pieces of a horse, I couldn't get but four of the pieces together. I also had, and still to a certain extent have, no social skills whatsoever. Motivation is far more important than IQ. An average student with hard work can achieve higher grades than a high-IQ student who just gets by without bothering to try. But more than anything, trying to apply any across the board judgments to any group of people will always lead to some people who deserve a chance being excluded unfairly. The best thing is to evaluate people on themselves and their own record, not by some numbers on a test.

NOT AT ALL !!
It does show how well a person took that particular test. Some genius' could never pass a written test.
Many people I know score high on these test yet they cannot even balance a checkbook or pay bills on time. THESE tests are simply NOT a way of proving intelligence. To bad the public school systems haven't figure it out yet with all their so called state and fed. testing. What a joke !!

Not really, the standard IQ test was designed to favour white middle class males. Scoring high on an IQ test simply means you are good at IQ tests.

Not really. In fact, IQ is highly overrated as an indicator of anything. According to a study done at Cambridge, the vast majority of people with high IQs never amount to much. It's as though, things become too easy for them, and thus they never really engage in life. They have a tendency to be chronic underachievers.
Most people who are creative in the arts and sciences have average, to slightly higher than average IQs.

I believes it does not reveal genius. Those who have a highest score of particular IQ test are somewhat smart on particular aspect that they are aware of. In this world, becoming more sophisticated, needs learning on every day phenomena. Our learnings should be not stagnant in order to catch up in our day to day living. I have also learned like what Thomas Edison have said that "1 percent inspiration and 99 percent perspiration" reflected me that being a genius strive so many trials in order to be aware in this competitive world and suceed in its intention.

IQ is a measure of reasoning, both verbal and non-verbal and not just about memory.
Genius can come from using our talents such as creative, artistic talent and is not related to intelligence.
Einstein failed his maths exam but went on to develop a world famous theory.
Isnt a genius more about originality, being unique

Hey, If you are clever, you know it, so why test it..to boast?
If you were a genius, you would as I said above, know it, but finding the key is the hardest part and the next hardest is making the gift work in a positive way!
Good luck....are you a Da Vinci Type?
