Well if ortiz is still in the lineup with Manny right behind him then ortiz, because they arent gonna load the bases for manny. If mannys not then maybe a contact guy like Ichiro or a good all around hitter like Derek Jeter. Honestly wouldnt complain about having any of those four guys mentioned up tho.

I would go with David Ortiz for two reasons. Number 1, he is the most clutch hitter in the big leagues. Number 2, if he gets walked you got Manny Ramirez up after him. Besides, while other people are saying spray hitters, you want a guy up who can put one out of the park. And most managers will not put the winning run on base... Especially when you have Manny Ramirez batting behind him

I'd have Javier Valentin pinch hit. He's good in a clutch situation like that. His name isn't tossed around like some of the bigger names: ie. Bonds, Big Papi, but he can get the job done just the same. Besides, I'm not going to answer this question with someone that's not playing for the Reds.

I would want a clutch hitter like Big Papi or Derek Jeter. You just have to hope that there is someone also good at hitting next in line for you, because the clutch hitter could be intentionally walked. Then it's all up to the next hitter, unless they want to walk him also intentionally, which they wouldn't dare do, because then the intentional run would come in.

I hate him, but i would have to go with Derek Jeter. He is a career .300 hitter regularly tops 200 hits, and has decent pop in his bat, and uses the whole field. (same prototype as Ichiro and Michael Young). Only difference is that he is known for coming through in the clutch, and has more playoff experience (i.e. work under pressure) than any of those other contact hitters. Jeter would drive both those runners in.

Since Bonds, Pujols, and Ortiz will more than likely get walked considering they are a treat to end the game with one swing, I would have to say big game Derek Jeter. Hopefully the guy at second has enough speed to score on a single/double.

Ichiro Suzuki or Michael Young. Both are spray hitters, solid contact hitters. They both rarely strikeout. Ichiro is so fast he beats out alot of infield grounders. Young has good opposite field power, had close to 50 doubles in '06.

If I had to choose one of the two, I'd pick Ichiro, only because he's a faster runner and more of a threat to get on base by any means necessary.

Derek Jeter

Derek Jeter.

The obvious answer is a slugger, but they tend to strike out when they deliberately swing for the fences. Give me a hitter for average who can make contact and at the very least can get the runners around to score.

If you have a guy like Pujols up - he will get walked, so the real question is - who do you want on deck. A guy like Ichiro Suzuki will probably not strike out and a single to right or center will tie the game.
