Time is something that eats us alive....

Both. In the scientific field, time observation is based on chronolgical events. Such as you mentioned, space continuum. It's a practical approach.

We, however live our lives and view time by memory of events in our past.

That's a very interesting question but it is not that difficult to answer.

By it's simplicity, time can be defined by many things on the long term, since we view events in our life as seeming to be a short time ago or seem to be a very long time ago.

Since we interject emotional events, in our past in the equation. We sometimes forget that there is a built in time clock in us to measure time in our own way.

It is a personal device, to us most of the time.

Your question addresses 2 things that clash.

If one of us was being tortured in a NAZI prison camp. Five minutes would seem like hours.

Yes, we measure time to quantify our life but we can always tell the two apart.

It's a good thing too. Without that ability we would freaking lose our mind.

this is a very hard question, but I think we measure time itself
to quantify life. But on the other hand, we cannot stop time, or move it forwards or backwards, so I clearly do not see why we have to measure it at all.

Time is the fourth dimension.

Yes, time is used to quantify life and to time events. The time we use is based on our planets rotation (24 hours per spin) and orbital path (365.25 days per cycle).

Time as you know it, from watches, clocks and other time pieces, was developed by man to :organize" or bring order to nature. We use time in everything we do or may occur: Birth, track and field, drag races, beer brewing, cooking, growing crops... and death. Time is an essential part of the experimentation process which allows "us' to repeat positive experiments again and again.

Is time travel possible? In your minds eye anything is possible. As far as "turning back the clock" or "jumping into the future" there is no known scientific evidence to support this phenomena.

Interesting question... Well, this is my take on "time." At least, that's what comes to mind initially and I hope that helps you some what.

We defined time as 3 dimensional beings to reflect our past, present and future states, when we (humans) had no concept of time-space continuum.

It is assumed by scholars that Genesis invokes time-space continuum logic through it's correct translation to be "In a beginning ...", NOT "In the beginning ..." as originally suggested.

4 dimensional beings (which we can not see) can use the time-space continuum, because they could see it; much like we can see 2 dimensions.

As humans, we had to find a representation for memory; for without memory, we would be 2 dimensional.

A nonspatial continuum in which events occur in apparently irreversible succession from the past through the present to the future.

Time is for man alone, no other creature has a concept of time.
We use time, and keep time, to measure every instant that everything happens, and to try to say when things may happen, Because with time we can measure both growth, and decay.
I would have to pick use of time to quantify things, and events.

Time is the witness of all events in the world.
It is the Barometer to measure the span of life in hours, days and years.
It is the yardstick to execute any projects.
A day will come when our Technologists would develop a Gadget to recall events recorded by Time on the Monitor of your Computer and then you will be caught - Beware of Time !

Time is worth money to everybody, but the parameters are set by those individuals, as to how much it is worth. To somebody it means probably 10 rupee per hour upto a lakh rupee per hour and to about 10 lak rupees every hour. Before we talked of time in respect to fate and spiritual existence, but all those have lost values, now we only talk about it with respect to CASH.

The concept of time is self-evident. An hour consists of a certain number of minutes, a day of hours and a year of days. But we rarely think about the fundamental nature of time.

Time is passing non-stop, and we follow it with clocks and calendars. Yet we cannot study it with a microscope or experiment with it. And it still keeps passing. We just cannot say what exactly happens when time passes.

Time is represented through change, such as the circular motion of the moon around the earth. The passing of time is indeed closely connected to the concept of space.

Time is a mental measurement between the past and future. There is no concept of time in the present.
