If the environment changes then the organisms change as well. Look it's like this if you filled up a tub with hot water such as I do and your body temp is just below oh say 79 degrees because you were out in the cold sooo you get into that tub of hot water slowly then you body takes on the same change. such as an organism would if the environment would.

An organism cannot adapt in the evolutionary sense. Each organism is how it is. When the environment changes, that organism will either survive or not survive. If it survives, it must have features that help it survive in that situation. If those features are inheritable, then they will be passed down through generations and may become common in that population.

That's why they say that organisms don't adapt, but populations do adapt.

There are 3 options
1. If it is intelligent , move to a similar environment elsewhere
2. Adapt to its new environment ( in the same location )
3 Die .

The better suited will survive while the others will extinct. An example is the extinction of dinozaures with only the few very small mammals that were able to survive giving rise to probably what the world is today...

the organisms try to adapt, it's one of the factors of evolution; environment. when some organisms can't adapt, they die or become extinct, if they become successful in adapting, they will live becoming one of the evidences in evolution.
