Google may not necessarily be better than Yahoo.
Basically, Google and Yahoo are different types of search engines and they work differently.
Yahoo is a directory search engine which organises listings of websites into hierarchical lists, meaning that you start by selecting a specific category and continually choose subcategories until you arrive at the list of websites with the information that you want.
For e.g., to determine who won the Academy Awards in 2004, the sequence of categories will be: Arts, Awards, Movies and Film@, Academy Awards, 76th Annual Academy Awards (2004).
In the final screen you can see a list of websites from which you can choose.
Otherwise, you can also enter "academy +awards +2004" into the Yahoo! Search field inmmediately.
Google is a true search engine, meaning that it uses software agent technologies to search the internet for keywords and then places them into indexes. Thus, a true search engine allows you to ask questions or type in key terms as opposed to continually choosing subcatergories to arrive at a list of websites.
For the same example for Yahoo, using Google, you can simply enter "Who won the Academy Awards in 2004" and then click the Google Search button.
Therefore, Yahoo and Google each have their good points. Which search engine you prefer would then depend on which method you are more used to using to search for information.

I never thought Yahoo is lame and lousy. If you know about Alexa ranking, you should know that Yahoo is no. 1 most popular website on the net. 2nd is Google. And this ranking is stable for more than a year.

If you have a slow internet connection, Google loads faster than Yahoo because Yahoo has more content in its home page.

I like google as an internet search engine, but I like Yahoo better for pretty much ever other service--including news searches.

Yahoo seems like the hillbilly version. Everybody got used to using Google for searches. That made them look intelectual.

In terms of the search engine, yes. You get a much wider variety with Google. And less pop-ups too.
