So why do we still tolerate and encourage joking about religion and race and stereo-typing? Are what at such a desperate point to make the world more coherent that we must assign each race or religion its own set of characteristics and proclaim them as truth? Or in just joking, mock the cultural history and identity that certian people choose to recognize. Why must such people as carlos mencia and movies like borat become so famous and praised so that the impressionable minds of children can lose the distinction between truth and fiction? If the this attack on equality goes uninhibited from the minds of youth, the ability to determine what is simply funny and what is simply accepted becomes harder to realize. I know that these people have the freedom of speech to say what they choose to say; but to say something just to be funny and outrageous and have it dull the distinction between humor and bigotry is not worth it, the potential equality of the country is not worth it.

Difference is Diversity and Diversity makes for a rich, fertile culture which ultimately can lead to a more sensitive and evolved society. Mature intelligent people also find humour in this difference and the distinction between humour and bigotry is never in doubt.I think you are taking offense at something very trivial and you have been indoctrinated by the ridiculous politically correct fashion of modern times.20 years ago Borat would not have even raised an eyebrow it would have just been laughed at. The whole Borat issue is the overreaction of the conservative politically correct thought police which incidentally is the very point that I think Sascha Cohen was really making fun of. Build a bridge and get over it.

true enough however, carlos mencia and borat and a lot of this shows are not for children. That's where parents come in and regulate. and if for some reason parents are allowing their children watch this, they need to explain to the children that what he is saying are jokes and that we live in a country where tolerance should be a staple in our society. The jokes they are making are about the stereotypes that we or others place on races that are blatantly untrue. Then when i see it i laugh because it is so ridiculous that we even think that.

Its not really the joke, its the tone of the joke. I can take somebody making fun of mexicans if theres some truth to it and its done in a funny way, but if their just insult after insult it cant be tolerated. Kind of what Micheal richards did(Kramer) he just kept saying your a *******, youre a ******* without being funny.

You know, I'm not at all racist, but it sounds like someone offended you with a tasteless joke.

Get used to it. People are like that, and they don't care WHAT color you are, and probably don't care if you're offended, either.
