I'm so with you on that one. Songs used to have inteligent lyrics then and more challenging to the ear. Not to mention the music itself iduced a feeling into you not a jingle or a repetitive sample every four beats. I like a lot of 70's and 80's music. Today I can't live on that same music 'cause I will go crazy. I try to stick to what brings out those feelings I had growing up listening to my parents music.

The best music came out in the 60-70s. Some good stuff in the 90s too. These days most of it is about the same thing. We have horrible mainstream Rap music and tons of crappy emo bands. What a sad world... why I dig the underground/Indie music mostly.

I think music from the 70's is much superior. I especially like the black stuff like Earth Wind, and Fire, Tower of Power, Funkadelic, Isley Bros, Stevie Wonder. Very rich, powerful lyrics, and great music. I guess it's all a matter of taste, but I feel that music today is very corporate and commercial.

just be selective in what you listen to today... it's all about your music preference. For me i love music so i grabbed a copy of yahoo music engine and now i enjoy all the music i want for cheap. Check it out if it interest you under yahoo music unlimited. I even bring back the 80's and the goonies... good music!

funny thing is people were saying the same thing 20 years ago about the music that was out at that time. in 20 years from now people will do the same thing with todays music.
i do agree with you though, however most people (not all) tend to only like the music that they grew up with.

I think it's beacuse most of the artists today are teeenagers or in their early 20's and honestly if you're in that age all you will care is love, money and broken hearts. In addition to that i think most singers today are inspired by their personal experiences regarding such matter. Maybe that's why.

you are right about that. the seventies we were still getting over viet nam and concerned for the environment. songs like American Woman gave us pause to think about what we are doing in wars in other countries and i think they need to play it a lot right now and get people to thinking.
