actually doing nothing and earning... impossible. well there maybe some ways to earn big money but with at least minimal work to do.
first u need a big amount of money.. invest it in lets say real estate. its a good investment especially commercial spaces for lease - build a building.
Or try franchising. fast food chain maybe.. or coffee house.. do some research first. Study the company's data carefully.
my business here(not in the US) is simple. and my earnings are alright.
Parking space. i built a building on a small lot, 5 stories high with almost 200 slots and 25 bucks per car for the first 3hrs plus additional 10 bucks for the succeeding hours. The top floor is for those working in the offices near by. Charge them monthly rate.
Roughly i get 5k a day from those hourly rates.
then i have to pay my guards, cleaners electric bill and tax.. to me its okay. its not a big company just a car park building. i put all my money in it.. and it is doing good!

Well, I wish I knew. If I did, I wouldn't spread my findings around though, cuz it's best to face no competition.
Now, I would try my hand at getting an MBA from Yale and apply for a position as high as possible in an Administration. There's a guy up there who seems to match your description.

you could invest your money but then you would still have to figure your taxes. but the best percent of return with the least amount of work would be real estate.
