Sometimes I honestly wish I had different friends...I feel like I've often been friends with rather negative, sometimes bitter, often socially awkward people. Sometimes I think I get stuck with these people bc I myself am (sadly) like this sometimes. The other night, my sister had one of her high school friends and her husband over (they're both in their late 20s now), and they were really cool people...so friendly, easy-going, smart, successful...just pleasant, funny, good people. And I really wish I had friends like that...but I've always been rather shy and had low-self esteem...and thus I think it's been hard for me to meet good people. Anyone else ever been in the same kind of situation?

Ever heard of the "law of attraction"? You get what you give out. Try to be a little more positive and actually visualize being with people who inspire you. As far as self-esteem, read some self help books or better yet, VISUALIZE yourself as a smart, capable, kind, funny, outgoing person. Fake it till you make it kiddo :)

i do feel like that actually, i really overestimated my choice of friends, but now its too late.

I dont think its your friends taht are the problem, i think its the relationship you have with them that makes you uneasy about the situation, maybe if you tried hanging out with them more, or doing some of the activities that they like with them, then you'd get used to them and accept their "awkwardness"...but then again dont change for them, if they are really not your type of people, seriosly, keep them for back-up, and go find new friends...

there are sooo many online sites for this (dont use them, myspace is soooo overrated)...instead try being a little more comfortable around people, so you can get rid of this shyness, and be more easy to be with

sounds to me like, you need one good friend to start with....so do so, the friend(S) part will come in time, for now focus on getting a good best friend

hang out with people who share your intrests and have your personality , this will then make it easier to find friends

good luck with this, and remember its not just any random thing you have to do, its important

merry christmas
