Always be a few minutes early.
Dress respectably.
Go above and beyond what is expected. If you are supposed to work at a counter and help customers, then smile and say hi to everyone that passes, wipe down the counter and do some other light cleaning when it is slow.
Know your product. If you work at a store, know what you are selling and know all the facts about it. Be able to answer questions. If you are working at a hotel, understand what amenitites your hotel offers and know the directions to lots of restaurants and shopping malls. If you work at a restaurant, learn how the food is prepared and understand the pricing.
Always have fun, too! Employers love employees who are always happy to be at work and who can make the job look easy!
Good luck!

It's all about what you feel lucy, I found myself through a ton of jobs till i finally found the one i was enjoying be there everyday. You'll find your answer in whether you want to be there or not. Tons of jobs out there..But if you find yourself calling in all the time and 'ducking' perhaps you should find something you like.
My wife after working at the same company I did for 4 years finally found happiness from being at DirecTv to loving working for Walmart, it's all about what you love to do...

At an entry level job, concentrate on what your duties are. Pace yourself so that you can last an eight hour day. Don't compare what you are doing to how much you are earning. Pretend that you are in your own job training program and working for experience and not money. Listen to the words that your supervisor speaks to you. If you do not understand what he wants done then tell him so.

Also,
*Be on time
*Their dress code rule
*No chew gum on the job
*Coworkers can be gossip but be wise to move your butt out of them
**Only supervisors or manager ask you to do some responsiblities and involved with coworkers as a team
*If you hate your job after for awhile , it would be worse to put your application if you lie
*Never discuss negative about your boss if you get fired.
*Don't rush to get higher jobs. It is better to start from the nest. **YOu will know and the better you get experiences
* Don't pretend that you are sick to call in sick unless you have over 100.
Happy holidays!!!

One thing I have found is that, if you are unsure about something ask somebody, ie follow worker or your manager. It is better to do something the right way the first time by asking than many times wrongly.

Lucy you must be young!! anyone knows that you work hard, give new ideas to the boss, and above all work the overtime if need be. That is how I worked 4 times in 25 years for the same restaurant( thanks to me they sell their salad dressing). you just need to apply yourself.
