I accidentally downloaded and installed a Spyware on my computer. I know that spywares couldn't be cleaned or removed easily, so what I did was I renamed the file extensions of those programs & files into .jpg & I successfully deleted it. It doesn't do anything to my computer now, I think.

Now, what I did again was I just discovered Adware Away, installed it, & repaired & cleaned some malicious files as stated by the program. After that, I uninstalled it because my computer restarts when I activate something in it. After that, I was just running Disk Cleanup & it suddenly restarted. And while restarting it restarted again. I also found out that my computer restarts, or sometimes just dies out, when my computer usage gets high.

To totally remove the spyware you may have to re-format your computer (re-install windows). Unfortunatley you loose evereything on our computer when you format it.

The turning off by itself after long periouds of use may be due to overheating, in whitch case you can install another fan in the computer. It may be because the spyware is reacting to one of the programs you are using. Because you have some spyware be shure to unplug the internet connection from your computer while you are not online so that people can't go through all of your files.

To see if the shutting down is from one of the programs you are using just before it shuts down. If there is a pattern try not to use the program that is shutting the computer down

Use this approach if you are infected with a spyware and don't want to re-format your computer. First, turn off your system restore feature. It is the main reason why your spyware keeps coming back. After you have turn off your system restore feature, use a good antivirus / antispyware software to scan and remove any remaining spywares. Adware Away is bad, you may as well shut down you virus program and go roaming on a non-certificed mother hyperlinked webpage. Adware misses wayyyyyy too much and throws a lot of additional files onto your computer.
STEPS TO TAKE
Save whatever you wanna save on an external hard drive
1. shut down PC
2. retart w/ boot command disc in cdrom
3. reboot entire hard drive
4. have some type of virus protection, I recommend NAV 2007
yes it is pricy but well worth it for one year
5. ensure your anti virus is active BEFORE connecting to internet
6. once activated scan ONLY your external drive FIRST with the anti virus (do not transfer files yet)
7. if all good go to this web page:
http://www.webroot.com/
8. try the trial version or buy the real thing, again it's about 40 bucks but well worth it, it's good for a year it takes care of viruses, malware, adware, popups, hackers, intrusion attempts, etc.
9. scan entire external hard drive with spy sweeper and antivirus
10 if all good, repeat scanning for main hard drive and then transfer any files and surf any page
11. tell a friend
12. have a great holiday

For startup problems, also reboot PC, DO NOT use more than 45% of your Hard drive if you're running anything less than or equal to a 1.5 ghz processor with only one memory stick.

Scenario: 20gb harddrive = use no more than 8 gb,
~2.0 processor = run no more than 30 open
processes in your task manager
256mb of memory = get more memory
