I know there are those of you who consider yourself enlightened intellectuals whose curiosity drives you to strive to find the truth and retain that information for a better understanding of the world we live in. My question is: do you ever find that you almost get lonelier the better you understand things because you find it harder to connect with your average non-thinker? This has been bothering me lately as the more I've tried to learn about this world, the more depressing it is that most other human beings don't strive toward truth and understanding.

It depends on how u see 'loneliness.'
I would say, the better u r able 2 understand people and things, the better u connect with them, because u know what makes them tick.
however, it might be difficult for u to share ur feelings with them simply because they would fail to understand problems 'at your level'. u may not be able to bond with them as buddies, but u can be their leader. a leader, in a way, is lonely. but then he is leading a group as well.
it depends upon ur perspective.
i would suggest instead of highlighting downside of higher understanding, try leveraging it to connect better with people. and believe me, there's not as much scarcity of people with brains as you would like to believe. u might just find someone ur equal and make friends with him/her.
give them a chance.

Let me just simply say, I am on a very similar page with you on that. It drives me away from most people bc no1 seems to give a shiit about the interesting unknowns I seek to understand and grasp. Maybe its maturity, but I'd honestly prefer sometimes if I thought so simply about the world around me like many others, bc I'd fit in a hell of a lot more and be a much less lonely. IM RIGHT THERE WITH YA.

Yes, sometimes it is, I guess that is the price to pay. I am 14 and I seek to enlighten myself and I actualy CARE about those things, which it seems no one else does. While I am smart and have been called a "bright child" before, it does not neccesarily mean I have a bigger brain capacity than everyone else (plenty of smart people I know have their brains stuck on fashion and celebrities) It is the way I AM and the way I have been raised. Its lonely a bit, but i like it. I think the trick is to find people who have the same goals and wish to seek knowledge

1. If you are of higher undestanding , then you should not feel lonely. If you feel lonely ,it means you want uncounciously to be with lower undestanding peaple but your ego is restricting you to mix with those peaple because they do not have such understanding as you have.
2. Your case simply indicates that you have collected good informations from books and stored in your memory but you are away from the truth of life.
3.Enlightened person never feels lonely but he has capacity to live alone and he frefers to live alone but unfortunately non enlightened peaple surrounds him and beg from him to overcome their suffering.

I don't know if I'm enlightened yet which means I'm probably not, but I definitly know how you feel. It's hard to feel connected to people who don't even take a few minutes to reflect on life once in a while. I see it as a challenge.

yes this somehow occurs to people with higher level of intelligence. geniuses have hard time connecting with normal people. not only do they feel more lonely, but more bored as well.

there are indeed lots of people on this world who pursue superficial stuff.

try to meditate or find a different level of communication with other beings in this world if you really feel lonely. it can be quite interesting.

im an athiest and look at nature for what it is... it does make you depressed.

like when you think about death... when you die their wont be a reunion with friends... there will just be death... being buried in the ground and rotting...

religion is a good thing in that it gives people hope... even though it may be false hope...
