There is a difference internally. If you use your computer casually, for example word documents, emails, and internet surfing, then you won't notice a considerably difference. However, if you are a heavy computer user i.e video editing, photoshop, gaming, then you will notice a difference.
It also depends on the hardware in your computer, such as ram memory, or what video card you have or the capacity and speed of your hard drive.
Intel and AMD are pretty much the same. It depends on preference.
For me personally, I would go with Intel.

well at least we can say that they have 800 MHz difference in processing not to mention its price... but the big deal is in other capabilities and features... for example do they have the same cache size or does both of them have 64-bit busses...are they both dual core's or ..... all these make lots of differences...
maybe its better to define what is it you are searching for??? if its about performances you may not find any difference using Microsoft word's or other simple programs (because they do not use lots of processing) but when you use large processing programs you can surely see the difference....for example: using 3D Studio while rendering a very big design... or autocad and other graphical programs.....
the price is always a big diffrent but i guess every one knows that....
but if the details such as cache and core's are diffrent you can see all the diffrences even in booting up.... the best way for you too find out (both cheap and fast) is too check both of them with a good game ... you can surely see the diffrences in a game using the same settings(preferably in high performance settings)...
ooooooooohhhhhhhhh..... its a log disscussion don't you think.... if you add more details maybe we can help you further....bye

Primary difference is the clock speed inside the processor.
3.4 giga hz should react much faster.
Additionally the bus inside the processor are different.
32 bytes have become 64 byte. so its processing capability is still higher.

Depends on the Manufacture really. My 2.5GHZ AMD can compile code alot faster than my 2.6GHZ Pentium..
Also depends on the stability u want. AMD processors BEST FOR GAMING. They are unstable, but very fast, rarely any problems.

ya man its there....
3.4 works faster depeneds upon the manufacturer
and 2.8 even works equivalent to 3.4 depends upon the manufacturer.
but 2.8 is cheaper
when you go for good manuf. then 2.8 is less cheaper tan 3.4
