Perhaps they said it was a Buckle Fracture - very common in children and more common with a Foosh injury (Fall on outstretched hand).

A Buckle Fracture is where the one side of the bone 'buckles', and it usually heals well and very quickly.

Hope that's what it is. Good luck.

I have been a orthopaedic plaster technician in the uk for 10 years now and never heard off a butlers fracture,i think you mean a buckle fracture which is a very common fracture in children. This fracture is a displaced fracture off the distal radius which is normally minimally displaced.Your child would off been put into a full elbow cast for 4 wks, then usually have to return for a follow up appt with the fracture clinic for further x-rays and maybe a change off cast. Most off the time once the fracture has healed and theres no further complications there are not usually no further follow up appt.Good Luck

Never heard of this also. These are some fractures around the wrist - Colles'; Smith's; Rolando's; Greenstick; Buckle (a type of greenstick) but no Butler's fracture. I agree with the friend who said it's probably buckle fracture. It can't be a boxer's fracture since boxer's fracture occurs in the hand, not the wrist. Why don't you ask your doctor again?

Similar injury to RSI repetive Strain Injury. Butlers are always putting pressure on the wrist by carrying items on Serving Trays etc, which will leave the wrist weak and prone to other injuries . Or a 'Boxers fracture' fracture of the Pinky knuckle common to boxers.

Then the doctor is not doing his job right, and should have explained what he means.
