Or better yet, would we not have found CONCLUSIVE evidence to prove it by now? If there is something lurking above billions of heads, wouldn't it make sense that at least one person would have been able to get legitimate evidence?

I agree with you. I believe that there is life out of earth but there is not evidence that aliens ever visited us.

The distances involved in space are really astronomical and if you think about travel from one star system to another the odds are no more than 1 or 2 during recorded human history.Aliens if they have been are going to have to have come from very close by.From outside the solar system well good luck getting through the rock belts after you've made it across the vast distances. The search for legitimate evidence could be in the ancient records of civilizations long gone. The big question here is would we know
legitimate evidence if we saw it.

If there were aliens out there advanced enough to travel to Earth, they would almost certainly be advanced enough to conceal the fact that ehy had done so--so the second part of the question doesn't really apply.

I would agree with you on the first half of your question, but it's hardly hard proof. Given that according to our current theories it is impossible for any matter to exceed the speed of light, and given that the nearest star to us is Proxima Centauri abour 4 light-years away, any aliens that came here would have to travel literally years if not hundreds of years. I can't picture travelling all that way just to look around. I suppose it's possible that there could be a race of aliens that just likes to look at things, or that lives so long that the trip seems reasonable to them, though, so you can't really say that this is proof they don't exist. However, it certainly isn't proof that they DO.

Your species has not reached the level of developement that would allow you to accept the responsibilities inherent in inter -stellar interaction with advanced species, let alone less advanced species. The way you have treated your own kind as you spread out over your own planet has shown us how primitive you still are. We do not directly interfere with your development. At your particular stage of evolution, you still carry too much delusional baggage. The organization of space faring beings has established a strict quarantine policy that will not allow any species to leave their star system as long as they insist on clinging to god concepts. Such beings, like yourselves, feel a compulsion to spread these concepts among those of lesser intelligence and we will not allow you to pollute these evolving species, many of whom are trying to evolve beyond this need also. Giving you technology you have not earned too early in your developement would only encourage you to spread these dangerous ideas. The point may be, as you say, moot because over the centuries, your planet was a curious place to visit once or twice and was not considered very interesting . Sure, your wars showed us how undeveloped you are as a species. Your infantile,(in cosmic terms) dependence on god concepts does not bode well for you and neither does your penchant to breed beyond your planet's ability to sustain you. We are now showing an interest in you because it is not often that we get to observe a species commit suicide. You are so close to maturing as a sentient species and it will be a shame to see you kill yourselves. There are just not enough of you becoming rational enough to force the issue. You let the least among you determine your fate, so be it.

Your question incorporates a few assumptions which might not be valid. If "aliens visiting us" had the same limitiations as humans do in their ability to maintain secrecy then part of your question might make sense.

However, there is no reason to assume that space-travelling aliens are as tribal-bound and instinct-driven as people are. ((for example, maybe the 'potential' aliens are a couple steps past Cap'n Kirk and teh Enterprise-crew))

Secondly, there is no reason to assume that humans have such exquisite abilities to detect events outside of the expectation-set of "normal" perception that 'aliens' could NOT evade detection.

(how tough is it for humans to "sneak up on" parameciums?)

Humanity *does* have a tendency to arrogance and self-pride when it comes to 'king of the hill' games. This might blind them to other species even co-existant on this earth ... ??

No alien ever visited earth.
If they had I"m sure making their presence known is the last thing they would do! Take that either way.

Nope. Think about it on a more basic level....go back to the Cold War. All of the countries the US gathered information on with technology we still do not know about as it was/still is classified......would we want to be detected? Make an anouncement of our presence??

What was the purpose of your question anyway? You a skeptic? A non-believer?

Of course!

Therefore while I think it virtually guaranteed that a great wealth of alien life exists out there I don't believe any have ever visited our planet.

A couple of posibilities come to mind. They could have some sort of prime directive(as on startrek) to not interfere.(their technology enables them to hide from us) or they may simply be so far advanced compared to us that they have no desire at all to communicate with us; maybe someday millions of years from now we might be advanced enough for them wish to communicate.
or they could be very shy who knows
