I like to believe that I am playing a part in the solution and not contributing to the problem in any way---but who truly knows ? I do know that I operate a business and put a lot of myself into it ---care for my elderly 95 year old father (who would be in a care facility otherwise) and work with a fraternal organization that is centered around Children's Hospitals that charge no fees whatsoever in the care of seriously injured children---all of this brings back a real sense of worth to me beyond the work of simply "making a living" and " buying new toys" as a life's goal !!
My involvement with all of this pays me back a hundred fold regularly in more ways than I can list here---and hopefully it contributes toward lessening the weight on a number of people in the financial area and therefore makes getting along a good deal easier on some folks that would have a genuine problem making it otherwise !!

Preface: I decided this back in the 1960's.
1. Over population is the leading cause of overcrowded classrooms.
2. Over population is the leading drain on economy & rise in health care insurance.
3. If people can't afford children, then they shouldn't be having them.
4. Anti-abortion organizations & religions that are against birth control should foot the bill to raise & put through college all of those babies they feel they have a monolpoly on. I have no problem with them picking up the tab. It would show that they are in earnest.

It's not up to the people of America to reduce poverty in their country. The people have too few resources, and have their own problems to deal with--which are far more important than other people's.
It's up to the American government to reduce poverty in their own country. They could do it at a stroke, by redirecting resources from the military.
Truth is, they have no desire to do so. A far more interesting question would be WHY the US government chooses to keep millions of its citizens in abject poverty?

I think if I had the money I would try to find some charity or something I could trust that would help. One person can't eliminate ALL poverty though.
