The Wii (pronounced as the pronoun "we," IPA: [wiË]) is a video game console released by Nintendo. The console was previously known by its project code name of Revolution, and is the successor to the Nintendo GameCube. Satoru Iwata revealed a prototype of the controller at the September 2005 Tokyo Game Show.[8] In the 2006 E3, it won the first of several awards.[9] By December 8, 2006, the console completed its launch in three key markets (see release for detailed information).

well a Nintendo Wii is better because it is wireless....and u could do a lot of cool things with it......you have great games for any type of audience and it makes you move a little more! if u think u gain weight its a perfect exercise!!! lol its a 2 in 1 package! and it is also very new so its better to get things that are "IN" u know what i'm sayin' annd its and awful load of fun...the Ideal Christmas present! along with a PS3 ans Xbox360.

both are pretty cool, i had a chance to play the Wii. totally geared towards kids 15 and under, but as an adult i had fun with it. DS is also pretty cool, bought my son one few months back. really saves us when we are riding in the car. and its wireless, can play head to head wirelessly with up to 6 other DS's. or you can play on the net against other people once you set it up
